How's it goin', neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're takin' a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior rooftop basket on our 2020 Ford Explorer. Adding a rooftop basket to the top of your Explorer is gonna allow you to increase your cargo capacity by takin' advantage of the negative space on top of your roof. What's special about the SkinnyWarrior is the fact that it is narrow, so that allows you to get a basket up here, but frees up the other half of your roof rack system to add in other things like kayak carriers, bike carriers, or maybe even a cargo box. Takin' a closer look at the SkinnyWarrior itself, the way that it works, it's gonna have a clamp system that wraps around your bars. Right now, I have the Thule WingBar Evo on here, but they'll work with just about any style bar. So if you have round, square, factory, whatever, this is gonna work for you. more

Now, as far as rooftop baskets go, this one is one of my personal favorites just for the way it looks. I think it looks really nice up here on the escape, but it's going to be really functional too. Hey, guys. Today, we have a 2017 Ford Escape and we're gonna do a test fit of the Yakima Off Grid rooftop cargo basket. Now a cargo basket, if you're not familiar with it, it works just like a cargo box, the only difference being that it doesn't have an enclosed lid. So everything's gonna be out in the open. So that's something you do want to keep in mind that when you want to load any excess cargo, luggage, anything like that to where you want to create more space in the inside of your vehicle. It is all gonna be exposed to the elements. more

Thule Roof Basket Review - 2018 Ford Explorer- Video

Curt Roof Basket Review - 2017 Ford Taurus- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Taurus, we're going to be test fitting the Curt roof mounted cargo basket, part number C18115. This measures 41-1/2 inches long, by 37 inches wide, by four inches deep. This has a carrying capacity of 150 pounds, but you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual, as well as your roof rack system, to make sure that they can withstand those weights.It does have a slanted design to it, along with a fairing, so the cargo basket itself will be relatively quiet while you travel. This is ideal for carrying a wide variety of items, but also helps out clearing space inside the vehicle, if your trunk is full, and you need to have people in side. This can also be used with sporting goods equipment, or even camping gear.It's very easy to install, and fits a wide variety of roof rack systems, and cross bar spreads, as well. It just simply has this U-bolt that clamps underneath, and this is covered with rubber here, and that's to help protect your roof rack system, so it doesn't get scratched up. more

It does have a carrying capacity of 165 pounds, but you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual as well your roof rack system to make sure it can withstand those weights. What this is pretty much designed to do is take any excess you have that you can't fit inside your vehicle or to make more space for your vehicle, like your trunk is filled up, you need to put some additional luggage on top. This can also work with sporting goods equipment or camping equipment as well.How it attaches to your roof rack system, we have a kind of sandwich in between this bracket with the padding and this bracket up top. It does simply screw into place and it does come with the tool to do so. more

Let's go ahead and show you how it installs. It's a very easy clamp-on style with U-bolts clamping it around your existing roof rack and then tightening down with these turn knobs up at the top. Now this is 31-1/2" long x 37" wide x 4" deep and has a 150-pound weight capacity. But you do want to check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure it can withstand that much weight. We already have three of our four mounts secured down, we've got the beginning portion of our back passenger side secured in place. We'll show you how to secure the rest of it. You'll notice between our crossbar and our basket we're going to have a plastic bracket, and on top we'll have a metal bracket. Underneath, we're going to have another metal bracket that has rubber on the top to help prevent any scratches or abrasions from our bracket onto our crossbar. more

Today on our 2009 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Canyon XT rooftop cargo basket, part number TH859XT. This cargo basket measures 49 in long by 40 in wide by 6 in tall. It has a carrying capacity of 150 lbs, although you want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure that your roof can withstand that kind of weight. It does come with the fairing installed on it, and this does have a nice aerodynamic shape to it as well, and both of those will cut down the wind noise and drag while you're driving. We have it in the shortened version now, but if you look on etrailer.com, there is a center piece you can put in here to actually extend it out, which is sold separately. Let's go ahead and show you how the last one goes on. First off though, I would like to point out that as it sits right now, we're not going to have any clearance issues between the hatch itself and the cargo basket. more

It's a lot boxier than most roof mounted baskets that are low profile, but that's okay because you're going to be able to hold more cargo around the edges. Here in the front, we've got a faring, so it's going to help cut down on that wind and noise reduction, and all that drag. more

Kuat Roof Cargo Carrier Review - 2013 Ford Escape- Video
Today on this 2013 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Skinny Roof Cargo Basket and Bike Rack, part number SK01. This measures 82 inches long by 23 inches wide and has 160 pound carrying capacity, although you'd want to double check with your manufacturer just to make sure that your roof can handle that weight. We have the skewers up at the front here and that's how you're going to attach your bike to this as well as an integrated lock towards the rear here that you can use for additional security for your bike rack or your cargo. Now how this attaches to your roof rack we have a locking top portion here . Get that out of the way. Then we have this metal bracket and plastic piece here where a u bolt will come up underneath and tighten down with these thumb screws. Once those are tightened down you take the lock inaudible 00:00:55 put that in, lock it into place and it's going to be secure to your roof rack and this is going to be the same for all 4 sheet. Today on our 2014 Ford Fusion, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Canyon Rooftop Mounted Cargo Basket. Now, it's going to be part number TH859. This basket is going to be 49 inches long, 40 inches wide, have a depth of 6 inches in the middle, and with a sturdy steel construction, it's going to offer a 150-pound weight capacity. Now as you can see, we've already got the front feet in place and around our crossbar. If you choose to place it on your crossbars, you need to make sure that before you place it on here that you adjust your feet because it's going to make for a whole lot easier installation instead of trying to adjust them once you get it up on your crossbars. Once you have those adjusted and in place, you can then very easily take your U-bolt, place 2 washers on each one, then place your 2 thumb screws just barely started on. Then, we'll take, place it underneath the crossbar and set it into place, placing a washer and a thumb screw over the top of each bracket. more

SportRack Roof Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2015 Ford Edge we're going to be doing a test of the SportRack Vista Rooftop Mounted Cargo Basket. This SportRack Vista is going to measure 44" long, 39 1/8" wide, have a depth of about 6", and with its sturdy steel construction it's going to offer 110 pound weight capacity. As you can see we've already got two of our front feet in place as well as the rear passenger side and we're going to show you how that driver side rear goes on now. First thing you're going to want to do is make sure that you have your spacer in between your basket and your crossbar. Note that this basket will fit your elliptical crossbars as well as your aero type bars, square bars, and even your factory roof systems. Right now we got it on round bars so let's go ahead and place the bracket over the top of the spacer, take your U shape bolt, bring it up underneath of your crossbars, into the slots on the spacer, and through the metal bracket on top. more

Today, on our 2015 Ford Edge Titanium, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Canyon rooftop mounted cargo basket. This cargo basket is going to be part number TH859. It's going to be 49 inches long, 40 inches wide, have a depth of 6 inches and with its study steel construction, is going to offer that 150 pound weight capacity. As you can see, we've already got the two front feet in place, up here, as well as the driver's side rear. We're going to show you how to place this one on the back passenger side. One note that I'm going to make or a little tech tip is going to be, before you get it up on the vehicle, get your crossbars spread and adjust these with Allen keys, the metal brackets here, before you get them in place on top of the vehicle. So, go ahead and lay it upside down on your table or a flat surface floor or whatever and measure them out from the center, there'll be a circle drilled out, and measure that to be the distance of whatever your crossbar spread is. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Fusion, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule Canyon. This would be your rooftop mounted cargo basket. This basket is forty nine inches long, forty inches wide, it is six inches deep with a steel construction and a hundred and fifty pound weight capacity. As you can see, we have it mounted onto our Thule Arrow Blade Rapid Traverse system and we're going to be showing you how to put on the last of the four feet because they all go on the same way it makes it really easy to do it this way. Looking at it, you'll have to adjust before you even get it on to the vehicle. Before you start mounting it, I would set it up on here because you have to adjust each of the foot pads to fit your specific crossbar spread. Today's crossbar spread for this particular vehicle with rack and everything else is twenty five inches. more

Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Cargo Basket Review - 2014 Ford Expedition- Video
Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Load Warrior roof rack cargo basket, part number Y07070. With the factory cross bars on our vehicle, we'll begin the test fit by placing the Load Warrior directly onto our crossbars. We'll remove the T-bolt from the lower part of our clamp, bring it around our crossbars, reinsert the T-bolt, and tighten both wing nuts to secure it to our rack. We'll now move to the rear and repeat the same process on this clamp. With the passenger side secure, we'll now move to the driver's side, where we will repeat the same tightening process that we used on the passenger side. With all four of our clamps secure, we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. more

Thule MOAB Roof Top Cargo Basket Review - 2009 Ford Escape- Video
Today we have with us a 2009 For Escape and were going to be test fitting the Thule Moab Roof Mounted Cargo Basket part number TH690. Weve already got our cargo basket assembled and were ready to go ahead and mount it up on our vehicle. To do this well place the basket up on top of the factory crossbars. Well make sure that we have it placed evenly on the roof from left to right. Once we have done that well take the hardware and fit the clamps around our crossbars and well use the included wing nuts to tighten the clamps at all four locations. With all the clamps tightened down we can reinstall our covers and our basket is installed and ready to load up. more

Today we have a 2011 Ford Fiesta Five-Door Hatchback. Well be test fitting the Thule M.O.A.B Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part number TH690. First well place the basket up on top of our load bars and well make sure its centered from left to right. Once weve done that, we can swing the clamps underneath our load bars and begin to tighten them down with the included wing nuts. With that, our basket is secure and were ready to load up and hit the road. We already have our basket put together according to the instructions and now were ready to mount it up on a roof rack. Well fit the basket on top of our roof rack and get it centered from left to right. Well feed the plastic clamps around the bottom around our crossbars and the use the wing nuts to tighten them down. Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, well be test fitting the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket, part number Y07070. With our vehicle equipped with the factory roof rack system and our cargo basket preassembled, were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. Well need to simply set the cargo basket on top of the crossbars. Well center it from left to right with the vehicle. Well then secure it using the included hardware with the basket. With our basket secured, well go ahead and give you a height measurement added to the vehicle, and this basket will add approximately 10 inches to the overall height of the vehicle. more

Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Cargo Basket Review - 2011 Ford Focus- Video
Today on our 2011 Ford Focus well be test fitting the Yakima Roof Cargo Carrier part number Y07070. Our vehicle is already equipped with the Yakima Roof Rack system and our cargo basket is already preassembled so were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. Well begin by setting the cargo basket on top of the crossbars. Well need to line it up from left to right with the vehicle. Well then secure it using the included hardware. With our hardware tight, our roof basket is secured to the vehicle and were ready to go ahead and load it up. more

Today we're going to test 2011 Ford Explorer. We'll test fit the Thule M.O.A.B. Roof Basket. You'll see on top of our Thule AeroBlade roof rack system. The cargo basket comes with a spread on the load bars of 16" to 28". With our load bars already set up, let's go and install the cargo basket. more
